Why This Domain Name, You Ask?
One must consider a myriad of factors when deciding a domain name. I’ve gone ahead and listed factors I considered when naming my domain. I chose my maiden name as my domain. It demonstrates my personal identity and professional reputation. It struck me as the perfect personal brand that will not change with marital status.
Factors to Consider:
- Pick a name that you are comfortable using forever, as it cannot be changed later.
- Pick a name personal enough to yourself that it is not likely to be mistaken to another page or brand.
- Avoid specific language that restricts the domain to one subject or context.
- Avoid long names. Aim for 6-14 characters. This makes the address easier to read, type, and remember.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers as these are hard to type and remember.
- Keep. It. Simple. The easier it is to repeat, the less confusion, the better.

A thoughtful and accurate digital identity is nearly a requirement these days.
